BBQ pulled chicken sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. This recipe uses tender and juicy pulled chicken that is slow-cooked with a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, and then served on soft and fluffy slider buns. The combination of flavors and textures in this recipe makes it a crowd-pleaser that is sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp hot sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 16 slider buns

  • Coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Directions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
  • Add the chicken breasts to a slow cooker, and pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken. Use tongs to toss the chicken in the sauce until it is fully coated.
  • Cover the slow cooker, and cook the chicken on low for 4 hours, or until it is fully cooked and tender.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, use two forks to shred the meat into small pieces. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker, and toss it in the barbecue sauce
  • Turn the slow cooker to the warm setting and let the chicken rest in the sauce for an additional 15 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.
  • While the chicken is resting, prepare the slider buns by slicing them in half and toasting them in a pan or on a grill.
  • To serve, spoon the BBQ pulled chicken onto the bottom half of each slider bun, and top with a spoonful of coleslaw (if desired). Place the top half of the slider bun on top of the chicken and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, add more hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
  • For a sweeter sauce, add more brown sugar or honey.
  • This recipe can be made in advance and reheated. Store the pulled chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
  • If you do not have a slow cooker, you can also cook the chicken in a Dutch oven or in a large pot on the stove over low heat for 1-2 hours.
  • If you prefer a crispy texture on your slider buns, you can also toast them in the oven or broiler for a few minutes.
